Happy National Selfie Day! In 2013 the word “selfie” was Oxford Dictionary’s word of the year. Since then, selfies have become even more popular with the growth of Instagram and Snapchat. To celebrate the national holiday we rounded up some of our favorite selfies of all time:
Our first favorite, of course, is the famous Oscar Selfie. Taken by Bradley Cooper and including some the biggest actors in the business, Ellen Degeneres got this selfie while hosting the 2014 Oscars. Selfie members include Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, Lupita Nyong’o, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence, as well as Lupita’s younger brother. With over 3.3 million RTs, this selfie has been seen around the world.
A local sports celebrity + the President of the United States = a perfect selfie! During the Red Sox’s visit to the White House after winning the World Series in 2014, David Ortiz was lucky enough to get a selfie with Barack Obama. This selfie was met with some backlash given that Ortiz held a contract with Samsung to post some images, and the White House later released a statement saying they did not approve of using a presidential selfie for commercial purchases. Regardless, the selfie came out awesome and Obama looks psyched to have his own customized Red Sox jersey.

Vice President Joe Biden posted his first ever selfie on Instagram with of course none other than the president himself, Barack Obama. The two were all smiles while taking the selfie and enjoy a ride in the presidential motorcade. This is definitely the most patriotic selfie on the list.

It comes to no surprise that the next selfie on our list was taken by the true queen of selfies, Mrs. Kim Kardashian West. Of her many scandalous selfies, our favorite was one taken during her second pregnancy. With this selfie, she stuck it to haters and showed true acceptance of her changing body and showed the world the amazingness that is pregnancy. Kim K has 74.5M followers on Instagram and still struts her stuff. You go girl!

One of the most followed celebrities of all time, Taylor Swift has become a selfie pro. Her classic “I woke up like this” selfie generated 2.3 million likes! What makes the photo even better is the addition of her cat, Dr. Meredith Grey, smiling alongside her pop star mommy for the photo. Talk about squad goals!

Kim K, alongside husband Kayne West, gave her endorsement to Presidential Candidate, Senator Hillary Clinton with the hashtag #HillaryforPresident. The famous couple took the selfie while at an event to hear Senator Clinton speak. This was the the reality TV star’s second attempt to capture a selfie with Clinton and she was clearly excited judging from the photo’s caption.
