About a month ago, a lot of us would never say we hated snow, but this winter has become a little aggressive, to say the least. In the words of Sarah Ribeiro, “hatred has become acceptable” not only with the depressing weather, but the equally melancholy tweets, Instagrams, Snapchats, and memes as well.
And although spring is still a few weeks away, we’d like to pretend that the days of commuting in single-digit weather are coming to a close. If the neverending precipitation of #Snowmageddon15 has you in an energy slump, these productivity apps will keep you focused and organized, reminding us all that there are brighter and warmer days ahead.
- If you haven’t done this already, I highly recommend a digital planner. This is an area of personal preference―I have friends who would rather write and highlight in their polka-dot Kate Spade agendas. If you get most of your work done online, tend to lose track of papers, or treat your phone like a baby (I understand), it’s pretty efficient to take notes and schedule events on a mobile device. The free version of Planner Plus is nice for tasks and reminders, and Agenda Calendar 4 has a clean and minimal design.
- As you fill your phone with selfies, family photos, and pictures of snowbanks, it’s nice to have a quality photo-management app. Some allow you to store your photos in the cloud and sync with other devices so you can free up some space. Others, like Tidy, allow you to organize photos however you want. It even comes with a retouching feature as well, so there’s no need to download an extra app.
- Overwhelmed with spam? It’s easy to be distracted by online sales and miss an email from your boss or coworker. There are plenty of junk-mail management apps, like PaperKarma, that let you easily unsubscribe from different accounts.
- We know you’re busy. And if you plan on doing actual spring cleaning (ew), or are just occupied with several different things, then task timer apps like 30/30 will help you stay on track. Like the Pomodoro method, it breaks your work into small intervals so you can quickly finish a bunch of tasks without getting overwhelmed.
- If you like using Tumblr or Pinterest to favorite photos, GIFs, videos, etc., you’ll like the read-it-later app Pocket for when you’re busy at work. Save the cats for your lunch break and we’re sure your boss will appreciate it.
