#MMinspo: Covid-19 Social Media Ideas (Part 3)

It’s time for the third weekly roundup of our team’s favorite COVID-19 related social media posts! We launched this series to feature some of the great content seen in our feeds about how to make the most of this time, provide helpful advice, spread positivity, and encourage helping others.

Don’t forget: Facebook and Instagram have seen a 40% increase in usage due to COVID-19, so this is the time for your business to maintain and create new relationships by remaining active on social. The relationships you form now and carry past quarantine could make all the difference when it comes to reopening or going back to business as usual.

Read on for our next list, and check back every week for a new round. When you’re done, feel free to drop a comment with a brand you’ve seen doing social media right during this unprecedented time.

1. @foodforfreeinc used a bold graphic to highlight how their company has helped those in need (in their case, a record number of volunteers who collectively worked to deliver food).

2. Local fast-casual eatery @eat.hotbox developed a Virtual Kitchen Lab — a ticketed “event” that donates proceeds and in which owners talk about the industry, demonstrate how to make a recipe, and take questions. Ticketed or not, anyone could host something like this on Zoom, Facebook Live, or Instagram Live.

3. @popsugarfitness made good use of the Instagram carousel format and created a game of MASH that isn’t only fun to fill out, but also prompted followers to comment with their results (generating engagement + more views). Something simple like this can be done with any industry.

4. Home and garden website @apartmenttherapy also used the Instagram carousel format, this time to present tips from their employees about staying home. Imagery isn’t the main focus here, so don’t worry if it isn’t your strong suit. Instead, the majority of slides focus on a direct quote for each piece of advice. Bonus points for featuring your team during this time!

5. Do you have a schedule of virtual events, Instagram live sessions, or content releases coming up? Spread the word with a calendar-like graphic, as @instagramforbusiness does here. This example is simple, but is instantly recognized as a calendar.

6. Luxury residence and Metter client @500oceanavenue has teamed up with a local fitness trainer to host a weekly virtual class for residents and promotes it on social. This is a great concept for anything resident or membership-focused. Other content ideas for a valuable weekly series include a cooking or DIY demo, Q&A session, and offering best practices (perhaps a panel discussion) on a particular topic.

7. Thrift shop and Metter client @garmentdistrict repurposed a customer post they were tagged in and presented advice for something everyone can relate to right now… attire for Zoom meetings. Is there anything related to Zoom you can post about? Here are some ideas: tips for etiquette, suggestions of where to find a good background, offering your own custom backgrounds, or ways to organize your desktop while on a call and taking notes/reading an agenda at the same time.

8. The 30 Day Song Challenge has been circulating for quite some time, and then came the book challenge like this one posted by @lovethebookyourewith. Game-style posts like this not only give followers something to do, but also something they can share multiple times with your branding on it. Restaurants can create a similar food challenge and shops with different types of items they sell, to name a few examples. Make sure you include your handle/hashtag in the design!

9. Restaurant and Metter client @kingsdine continues posting although they’re closed (smart) and includes relatable quotes and tweets in their rotation. This is one of the easiest things anyone can do that can encourage reactions!

10. Posting a thank you to essential workers? Make it simple and eye-catching with a bold animation like insurance company and Metter client @cushmanins does here. They didn’t go overboard with branding, but kept it tasteful using their color scheme and a design that isn’t too busy.
