by @fitztepper via @techcrunch
Move over, Google Glass. With Snapchat’s “Spectacles” entering the market this fall for $130, we can’t be more excited to see how the product’s 115-degree lens plays out in the market. What more? Apart from having a lens which is going to be wider than a regular camera/ smartphone, the 10 second video captured by the glasses will automatically sync to your phone. Though Snapchat CEO, Evan Spiegel foresees “limited distribution” in the immediate future, do you think Snapchat Spectacles with its advantage over a young audience will follow the Google route or surpass the former’s craze?
3. Twitter Announces New Apps to Connect Live-Streams Direct to Your TV
by @adhutchinson via @socialmediatoday
Is increasing accessibility among the general public the next big step? Are social media apps capable of doing it? They probably are. Proclaiming themselves as a “news network”, Twitter has announced the launch of a few news apps for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Microsoft Xbox One. What’s interesting is that consumers don’t need to log in to their Twitter accounts. Happy customers, more advertisers and live-stream content. Do we sense competition?
4.Facebook At Work is launching next month
by @joshconstine via @techcrunch
Talking about competition, the other SM giant, Facebook, has decided to enter the workplace! By hoping to keep employees and colleagues in loop with each others ideas, the company has decided to develop a pricing plan which would be charged on a monthly basis. Keeping in mind Facebook’s associations with online chatting and casual social networking in mind, do you think the company will have to come up with effective ways to re-brand themselves for this purpose?
5. Anyone can make a Twitter Moment
by @karissabe via @mashable
Hoping to see the Moments feature as an extension of content discovery on the platform, the app will now allow users to make their own Moment. This new development has resulted out of the need to make Twitter more appealing to new users. This could lead to a more personalized timeline and more engagement for sure. What do you predict?
