Trigger your Twitter fingers, social media fans, because in this week’s #MMSocialReport, we explore what’s going on with Facebook live-streaming, Snapchat features, up-and-coming social media apps, and an IRL Romeo and Juliet love (snap) story!
1. Meet the IRL Romeo and Juliet who met via Snapchat Story
by @StephMBuck via @mashable
Have you heard about the modern day Romeo and Juliet story that came upon us this week, courtesy of University of Wisconsin, Madison? If not, sit tight for a wild one! According to Mashable, Abby Diamond, a current student at the university, caught a glimpse of Reed Bjork’s face on the university’s snap story, where she proceeded to profess her love for him across the same medium. What happened next is straight out of a fairytale – head over to Mashable to see how the story folds out on the university’s Snapchat! (Spoiler alert: it’s super cute!)
2. 10 Facebook Live stars you need to follow now
by @HeySamantha via @mashable
Facebook Live is giving YouTube, Vine, and Periscope a serious run for their money. After a couple months of experimenting, the feature has created a new type of audience for video-content makers, where tattooing, comedy, and oddities are taking center stage. Not sure who you should be following for Facebook Live? Mashable has compiled an LOL-worthy list, highlighting the cool, weird, and funny users to watch.
3. 10 Snapchat features we wish existed
via @mashable
Who isn’t obsessed with Snapchat nowadays? With all the quirky face-swaps and crazy filters, it may seem a little daunting to see what else the app can add, but possibilities could be endless. Social media lovers, it’s time to start brainstorming what else you’d like to see on the app (I, for one, would love to see a Facetune feature so I can flex on my snap story). Start by heading over to Mashable to see what ideas they’ve come up with to inspire your Snapchat feature pitch!
4. Meet Talkshow, the latest viral app the Internet is freaking out about
by @heysamantha via @mashable
In the fast-paced world of startups and tech, there’s always one social newcomer that is the current object of obsession for the internet (note: Peach). Meet Talkshow, which may now be a household name thanks to Taylor Swift. Ms. Swift was seen posting a screenshot of her chat with Ed Sheeran, and the app ever grew rapid-fire with constant crashes and upset-Tweets spanning throughout the Twittersphere. The app itself is pretty neat – imagine if Viber and Twitter had a baby, but can it sustain its high increase in usage? Only time will tell.
