1. Amazon Launches Spark, a Shoppable Feed of Stories and Photos Aimed at Prime Members

This week Amazon launched Amazon Spark – a Pinterest/Instagram hybrid aimed to make purchasing a social experience. Here’s how it works: products are featured based off selected tags and purchasing history and are displayed in a post format similar to Instagram. Users can add comments, likes, stories, images, and even ideas of products they like and the community chimes in. Heads up though, Spark is only available on mobile right now.
2. Snapchat’s Latest Update Lets You Recolor Any Object

Want to test out purple hair or color your dog blue? You got it. Snapchat rolled out Tint Brush this week in their newest update. Hidden in the vertical toolkit on the upper right corner, Tint Brush lets you outline any object and instantly re-color it.
3. Google Launches New Security Features to Protect Users from Unverified Apps

Google is making strides to protect users from unverified apps with their latest security feature. The new security feature pops up in a new window when users are about to connect to an app that is not verified by Google’s verification process. Not only does a warning pop up, but the user is prompted to type in “continue” before accepting the app.

5. Facebook Plans to Start Testing Instant Article Subscriptions As Soon As October

Facebook revealed plans to add a subscription paywall to Instant Articles to boost revenue for publishers. Although the business model is still in talks, some ideas are being thrown around including allowing users to read 10 free articles a month before being prompted to buy a subscription and the possibility of being mobile only.
