In this week’s #MMSocial Report — YouTube and Snapchat announce new features that directly affect users, Facebook messenger can now have you and your friends rolling in money, and why we might be saying goodbye to the News Feed.
1. YouTube Announces New 10k Views Threshold Before Creators Can Monetize Content
by @adhutchinson via @socialmedia2day
The age of “user-creators” is upon us — and YouTube knows it. Since allowing platform creators to make money off of their content with the introduction of their Partner Program in 2007, there are now more people making money off of YouTube than ever. Under the guise of making sure copy-cats aren’t making money off of stolen videos, YouTube has decided to place a 10K threshold on videos before the creators can make money off of them.
2.The News Feed is Outdated: How Stories Changed the Way I Think About Social Media
Since the introduction of a Stories feature on basically every single social media platform, people have been changing the way they consume content. With the camera as the focal point of communication and a shift in sharing habits, does this new feature mean an end of days for the News Feed?
3. Snap prepares to sell its soul as it attempts to turn a profit
by @rachelkaser via @TheNextWeb
You know those cute little geofilters that show up when you enter a restaurant? A new tool now allows Snapchat to sell your location information to advertisers so they can track the efficiency of their ad. Sneaky… or smart?
4. Facebook Messenger now supports group payments
by @sarahintampa via @techcrunch
In early 2015, Facebook Messenger introduced person-to-person payments within the app. With the process fundamentally the same, now the feature allows users to send money in bulk (either with the same or different amounts).

by @annierpalmer via @The Street
Mixed reactions accompany the premiere of Snapchat and A+E’s first original series ‘Second Chance’ — an unscripted look at what happens when exes talk about why they broke up, and why only one of them wants to get back together.
