This month, we’re excited to spotlight Jordan Grass, Insurance Account Manager and Internship Director at Metter Media. Jordan has been with Metter for about a year and a half now, and in that time, we’ve seen her truly embody the supportive team spirit we value at MM — from decking MMHQ out for the holidays to attending networking events across the city to supporting her fellow teammates.
Jordan started as an Account Manager at MM in August 2018. She now works with some of our insurance agents locally, and has recently taken on the role of Internship Director. She’s killing the game with pop culture insurance memes, FRIENDS references, and getting the team involved in networking — all with a full cup of coffee in her hand.
How did you get your start in social media?
Through my college years at Endicott College, we were required to start doing internships as soon as winter break Freshman year. During that first internship I worked in a small production company and took the four weeks I had there to totally kick off their social media presence. Between my sophomore and junior years I worked at a much larger design consultancy in the Seaport and worked with their Global Marketing Department to do research on Generation Z and how they use social media across the world. Lastly, for my semester-long 40 hour a week internship at a Web Design Marketing agency my senior year, I interned closely with the Digital Marketing manager as well as the Sales team to write blogs, draft social content and create calendars for their internal marketing department. By the time I graduated, I had already had a little over a year of experience.

When did you join Metter Media?
In July of 2018, I found Metter Media through a family friend (at my sister’s wedding dress fitting, actually). This friend and I got to talking, I was interviewed and hired in August of 2018 and the rest is history!
Why is social media important/relevant to your industry?
When you think of insurance you think of small geckos, people falling out of trees and white warehouses with bundling machines. For the independent insurance agents that we have the pleasure of working with at Metter Media, we want to help them show their customers why they are better than these big box name-brand organizations — which is no easy task. For insurance we steer away from the negative “what’s this going to cost me” questions and change gears to “how is this going to benefit me and my family” — let’s call it pulling at the heart strings. With the digital and social media presence this world has now, these small insurance agents could be left behind if they aren’t online — and that’s something we can truly prove to them.
What campaigns have you helped create that make your clients stand out from the rest?
Being a part of the Insurance team and the corporate world, you have to find new ways to be creative. I have used our friend #GeorgeTheDog from Cushman Insurance as our social media star ⭐️. Incorporating him into our content, whether it’s #WheresGeorge, our Insure Your Wheels and Everybody Needs Insurance campaigns, or simply a safety tip image, we love him and our audience loves him.

What’s your #MMProTip?
When in doubt, put your hair up in a bun, drink some coffee and deal with it.
Proudest moment so far?
My proudest moment so far would probably be the time that I fully took on the internship program and had my first direct reports so early on. Only being fresh out of college (and an intern myself only two years ago) I was nervous to finally be in the role as someone’s supervisor, let alone three different individuals. And I think I’m doing a pretty good job — right @ Fall 2019 interns?
