Meet MM client, The Garment District, an alternative department store in Cambridge, MA that specializes in thrifted, vintage, and unique fashion pieces. #FunFact: their building at 200 Broadway (which dates back to 1893) is the last standing structure associated with the city’s once-booming soap manufacturing industry!
Inventory stocks all styles of women’s and men’s new and used clothes, shoes, and accessories. With over 12,000 square feet of retail space, more than 40,000 unique, seasonally-appropriate items are out at any given time. New items are put out daily, so no two visits are the same! (We’re also never at a loss of content for our photo shoots.)

Popular among students and writers alike, #ByThePound is a department of the store where shoppers can browse piles of clothing daily and purchase for $2/lb ($1/lb on Fridays). It’s important to recognize types of content that perform particularly well for our clients, and #ByThePound is consistently one of those things.
Sustainability
With trend turnovers and “fast fashion,” Americans throw away millions of pounds of perfectly usable clothing every year. The Garment District encourages buying and selling secondhand, and MM has recently launched a #SustainableSaturday campaign to educate followers on the topic.

Whether modeling items or posing on the insta-famous subway set in the store, customers are constantly uploading their photos to social media for all to see. MM has implemented a weekly #GDfind Instagram story to share these posts and encourage others to do the same! A recent campaign has been a photo contest asking customers to specifically share their subway set photos and tag us, and a few entries will be selected for gift cards. (This is also a great way to source content for future posts highlighting the customers!)

Boston Costume
One more thing! In 2007, Boston Costume — previously located in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood — joined The Garment District and By The Pound on the first floor. Here at Metter, we LOVE the opportunity to handle social for Boston Costume as well during the Halloween season.
